Jack Stone, Five Months Old!

Oh, what a wonderful day! I had a shoot with a city council member this morning, fancy. Rey made me the best mug of coffee and on my way out the door I see this little package. I wasn't expecting anything so I took it in a looked at Rey funny. He smiled... so I ripped it open.

Are you Kidding ME?? Oh, honey. A new (to me) Rebel? I wanna have your babies. (Rey, not the camera. Although...)

After my shoot I rushed home, uploaded and edited my shoot and as I was burning the disc, the power went out as a storm rolled into town and I knew exactly what to do with my down time.

Shoot Jack's 5 month pictures! With my new camera!! Woot!

Here is what it would look like if Jack was in a dreamland
in 1974 and drank milkshakes. Note adorable drool.

This boy never runs out of expressions.

What a funny little man.

Don't be scared, it's just your sister making a squawking noise.

Man, you are a cute 5 month old.

Hidey Ho, Summer!

Ahh... summertime is upon us, amigos! This summer I want to have a ball with Baby Jack, take Maggie some cool places, love that man of mine, paint some frames, craft some crafts, blog some blogs, cook some... food. I want to go to 15 yard sales and Goodwill... weekly. I want to edit all of my pictures like it's 1974. Okie Dokie, begin.

Rey and I took Baby Jack to see his sister at school on her second-to-last day until summer vacation. These are her friends. Note the kid on the left.

This is Maggie's 5th grade teacher, Mrs. Bate. We love her.

Mad Madam Momma and her little Mansey Wansy (yes I said that).

Daddy Man

I think this might be the first picture ever taken of me and both kids?

He loves this baby

Seriously

Now that it's summertime we might see more of this... (please excuse Maggie's mess, she doesn't mind at all).

You can assume they were transfixed with some Pixar flick. Look at me and smile... geesh.

Oh, you're busy. I guess it's ok, it's summer.

Speed of Life

Incredible! It's almost time for me to shoot Jack's 5 month pictures! I decided to do a mini shoot each month for the first year. Although somewhat ambitious, I have two reasons for doing this. First, I don't have many pictures of Maggie as a baby, poor thing. Second, the year speeds by ridiculously fast and they change so quickly... it's almost appropriate to photograph in high speed.

Here's a shot from his baby book.

Fontastic

I just love this Impact Label Font by Michael Tension. I spend way too much time on DaFont.com and every time I install a new operating system (which is way too often) I have to transfer a million fonts over. Check it.

Note to Self by: SoulePapa

Sometimes it moves pretty quick. When you don't have time to think. React. Remember days when all you had was time. Time to reflect. Now. Now is for living.

Just live.

Wake up, tie your boots on and get out in it. Smell it, feel it. Roll down the windows so you can hear it. Listen. Make some noise so you can be part of it. Put your hands in it. Deep. Pick it up and toss it around. Break it open against the ground. Flip it over. Drink it up. Let it spill. Touch.

Take the time to do that.

Take the effort to throw it a mile high and kick it when it comes down. Hug it and don't let it go. Stare at it. Clench your fists and yell it. Raise your arms to celebrate it. Hold it's hands and dance. Close your eyes and take a chance. Make it happen.

Crawl through it on your hands and knees. Surrender. Defy. Rebel. Let it break you down. Get up with it. Run with it until your legs give out and you can't breathe or move or shout. Encircle it. Let it in. Float in it. Spin... Smile. Ride. Stack it up into the sky. Burn it down to feel the heat. Chase it down a city street.

Tell it jokes until you cry. Cry with it. Cry with it until you smile. Laugh with it for a while.

Make it pretty. Give it away. Cover it with mud. Let it stay.

Race it to the edges of the Earth. Jump with it. Fly above.

Dream about it.

Shower it with love. Protect it.

Never. Ever. Forget it.

Don't forget.

(Note to Self)

This is it.

Jack, Four Months Old!

Maggie Drives!

I think kids need to have those moments in their lives when they are totally in control. Sometimes when my 10 year old, Maggie, is feeling a little out of control, I try to find something grown-up and rewarding to let her exercise some freedom. Here she is driving like a champ.

Ladybugs' Picnic

I've been singing this to Jack all day...

Ladybugs' Picnic

One two three
Four five six
Seven eight nine
Ten eleven twelve
Ladybugs
Came to the ladybugs' picnic

One two three
Four five six
Seven eight nine
Ten eleven twelve
And they all played games
At the ladybugs' picnic

They had twelve sacks so they ran sack races
And they fell on their backs and they fell on their faces
The ladybugs 12
At the ladybugs' picnic

They played jump rope but the rope it broke
So they just sat around telling knock-knock jokes
The ladybugs 12
At the ladybugs' picnic

One two three
Four five six
Seven eight nine
Ten eleven twelve
And they chatted away
At the ladybugs' picnic

They talked about the high price of furniture and rugs
And fire insurance for ladybugs
The ladybugs 12
At the ladybugs' picnic
12!
